As a therapy: Udvarthan or Udsadana

‘Udvartana’ means upwards movements. All classic Ayurvedic texts explain this treatment as one of the daily routine procedures just like the full-body massage Abhyanga. Not only used as a daily cleansing routine but also it’s a main procedure starting most Ayurvedic treatments.

This treatment is helpful to deplete the mucous in the body and scrapes off excess fat. At the same time it stabilizes the body. And is extremely beneficial for the skin.  This treatment helps to diminish bad odour of the body, alleviates itching and removes the dead cells and other skin remnants. Hence opens up the channels in the system. Overall it cleanses the body and provides a beautiful complexion too.

You can  either use  dry powder (for Kapha types) or make wet paste.

Spread the powder or the paste on the body and massage with upward vigorous strokes.
