No matter how much you are looking forward to it, travelling and preparing for the trip can be stressful.
But there are simple ways to minimize the disruption and find balance wherever you go.
These simple Ayurvedic travel tips might help:

Balance Vata (air element)
The changes that come with travelling often increase restlessness and digestion issues, to stay balanced:
- Try to stick to a daily routine to stay grounded and avoid decision-making-stress, this can be something simple like starting your day meditating or doing a few stretches or yoga postures.
- From time to time try to eat warm rice dishes with some veggies to give your stomach a break.
- Carry a VATA balancing oil to massage your feet and legs before bed to remove fatigue and wind down, this makes all the difference.

Support digestion
We’ve all experienced this, our digestion is easily out of tune when travelling, either too much or too little. Here’s what might help:
- Chew on a bit of fresh ginger (easy to take with you) before meals to stimulate digestion.
- Take CCF tea with you (coriander, cumin and fennel seeds in equal proportion) and drink after meals to support digestion and reduce bloating.
- Avoid cold iced drinks and cold raw food when flying or changing climates.

Stay hydrated
Too much time in the plane or hot weather can leave you dry and depleted, make sure:
- You keep drinking water regularly.
- Keep a facial mist with you to refresh skin, ideal during long flights.
- Use a face rich oil on flights to lock in moisture.

Maintain your bedtime ritual
Sleeping in a different bed, in a different climate, without your usual home comforts can lead to a restless night, this can help:
- Bring along your favorite items for your regular night routine, this could be your own pillow case or your calming pillow mist.
- Try to avoid heavy dinners short before bedtime.
- Massage your jaws and temples in bed with your favorite calming deep sleep oil.
- When you hit the pillow cover your eyes with your lavender–filled-eye-pillow to calm the nervous system and go within.
